Title #25 – The Priest Raigo of Mii Temple transformed by wicked thoughts into a rat
Series 36 Ghosts
Date January 1891
Publisher Sasaki Toyokichi
Format Oban (9 7/8" X 14 1/2")
Comment The Priest Raigo starved himself to death after Emperor Shirakawa would not grant him a request. His vengeful spirit came back as a thousand rats who destroyed the Emperor's sacred books and scrolls. In Yoshitoshi's design, Raigo is still partly human and still wears his priest's robes.
