Kihei Sasajima (1901 - 1993) was a student of Munakata and Hiratsuka. As Francis Blakemore says in Modern Japanese Prints,"Solid areas are fragmented into dancing shards. . ." The soft paper is pressed deeply into the carved block creating an embossed surface in the white areas.
